Deck staining

Recently Admirable painting has been receiving a lot of questions relating to deck products.  We tend to use three types of products on a regular basis, solid color, semi-transparent, and toners.  Toners are clear sealers that allow the natural busty of the wood to show through.  Unfortunately hey also allow the suns rays to break down the sealer and thus do not last very long.  Semi-transparent stains can be tinted a multitude of colors while still slowing the grain of the wood to show.  The additional pigments added help these types to last longer than the toners.  The longest lasting type of stain are the solid color stain. these resemble the look of paint, while still have the penetrating properties of stain.  These have the most amount of pigment, last the longest, wear the best, and have the most uniform appearance.  What it really comes down to is the look your project is going for and the amount of maintenance you want to expel. Feel free to contact Admirable painting for your next staining job.

Exterior paints Inside?

We recently received a call asking if it is alright to use exterior paint indoors and are answer was sweat and short. NO.  Exterior paints have high levels of chemicals in them that inhibit the growth of mold.  These mildicides can be harmful if they are released in closed spaces such as indoors.  Another reason is that exterior paints are meant to swell and contract with the seasons.  This softness makes exterior paints less than ideal for areas that are high traffic as they are easily gouged.  Always read your paint labels and follow the manufactures written instructions to be on the safe side.
