It is becoming evident that the supper competitive world of coatings is going after your business at a feverous pace. Watching television on a home improvement channel makes your decision even harder when major paint producers have extra slick advertising campaigns telling you why they are the best. When I comes to the next exterior paint you choose, you should remember a few things
1. Just because you put the word premium or super premium in the title, doesn't make it true
2. Quality paints should be 100% acrylic
3. Paints are composed of the same components. Water, pigments, and resins
4. Quality paints have quality resins that help bind to your surfaces
And finally
Just because it costs the most doesn't make it the best
Admirable painting has personal experience with quality paints that can deliver quality results. Sometimes a pro can help you choose the best paint for your next painting project.

Too cold to paint?
It seems that as the leaves start to fall and the snow starts to fly, we continue to receive calls about exterior painting projects. They tell us 'the can says low temp' or 'I saw someone down the street still painting' and our answer is almost our season stops outside in November here in Ohio. Their are many exterior paint manufactures that do allow for coatings to be applied down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit but the truth is that the temperatures should not dip below this until the paint has cured for, in some cases 24 hours. Now this will vary based on the products and exact exterior conditions, but I would always err on the side of caution and not paint when the lows are expected to dip below 35. Another good rule of thumb is if its too cold to touch, its too cold to paint. Sometimes it is better to wait until spring to ensure proper adhesion.

Deck staining
Recently Admirable painting has been receiving a lot of questions relating to deck products. We tend to use three types of products on a regular basis, solid color, semi-transparent, and toners. Toners are clear sealers that allow the natural busty of the wood to show through. Unfortunately hey also allow the suns rays to break down the sealer and thus do not last very long. Semi-transparent stains can be tinted a multitude of colors while still slowing the grain of the wood to show. The additional pigments added help these types to last longer than the toners. The longest lasting type of stain are the solid color stain. these resemble the look of paint, while still have the penetrating properties of stain. These have the most amount of pigment, last the longest, wear the best, and have the most uniform appearance. What it really comes down to is the look your project is going for and the amount of maintenance you want to expel. Feel free to contact Admirable painting for your next staining job.

Exterior paints Inside?
We recently received a call asking if it is alright to use exterior paint indoors and are answer was sweat and short. NO. Exterior paints have high levels of chemicals in them that inhibit the growth of mold. These mildicides can be harmful if they are released in closed spaces such as indoors. Another reason is that exterior paints are meant to swell and contract with the seasons. This softness makes exterior paints less than ideal for areas that are high traffic as they are easily gouged. Always read your paint labels and follow the manufactures written instructions to be on the safe side.

Priming tips
www.admirablepainting.com/exterior_painting.html
When your painting your exterior a dark color, we recommend that you prime with a primer tinted dark grey. this is definitely helpful when painting reds as the amount of pigment in the paint does not cover as well as other colors. These primers can also tinted close to your Finish color but we recommend not tinting it to exactly the same as your finish, as it becomes difficult to see where your finish coat has not been applied.

We are excited to announce that we are gearing up for the 2013 exterior painting season in Columbus. When painting be sure not only to use quality paints but also use quality applicators as well. Its almost humorous to see people applying $60 a gallon paint with a $3 brush. One of the projects we enjoy painting is aluminum siding.
